Pet Care Staff
Veterinarian Dr. Alex Casuccio hails from West Virginia and attended veterinary school at Louisiana State University. He offers over 35 years of companion animal experience, with advanced skills in dermatology, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmic surgery, internal medicine and much more. As a previous practice owner of over 27 years and a previous Medical Director for a large corporate practice (supervising, mentoring and coaching 50 doctors at a time), Dr. Casuccio has developed top notch medical expertise along with the friendly, personal approach that all clients want. Dr. Casuccio holds a commercial pilot's certificate in both sea and land airplanes. He hosted a very popular radio talk show for several years. He has a passion for wrenching on his 1968 Corvette and you can often spot him on 2 wheels, motorcycling with his wife, Michelle, in the passenger's seat. Camping and fishing are Dr. Casuccio's favorite outdoor activities.
Veterinarian Dr. Rachel Casuccio (daughter-in-law to Dr. Alex Casuccio) grew up in Landenberg, PA where her parents still reside. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a BS in Animal Science in 2004 and graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She has an avid interest in small animal surgery. In Dr. Casuccio's free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, John, reading, watching favorite TV shows and staying fit. Many clients know her by her maiden name, Dr. Rachel Cherico.
Veterinarian Dr. Nicole Young hails from Wisconsin. She is a military veteran who, after completing military service (Air Force), attended veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Young practiced at North Kenilworth Veterinary Care in Phoenix for 5 years before joining our team. Dr. Young is a runner and often competes in weekend races. She enjoys cooking and reading as well as spending time with fiance', Colin, and her dog "Ava" (pictured here).
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) Keaira was born and raised in Arizona. She graduated from Carrington College CVT program in 2013. Keaira has a passion for animals, and eventually would like to go back to school to become a Veterinarian. After working each day at the veterinary hospital, Keaira enjoys spending time with her husband, their newborn baby and her mixed breed dog named Dawg.
Veterinary Nurse Abby is from Chicago. Abby has an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from Harrison College of Northwest Indianapolis. She worked as a Certified Veterinary Technician in Dayton, Ohio for 6 years before moving to Phoenix. Abby enjoys hiking with her one-eared dog, "Lefty," as well as spending time at the dog park with her best friend.
Veterinary Nurse Taylor is also a native Arizonan. Currently enrolled in the pre-veterinary program at ASU, Taylor is gaining valuable experience at Scottsdale Animal Healthcare for her future plans to become a veterinarian. Passionate about pets of all kinds, Taylor has a miniature pinscher named "Ella" and a cat named "Ms Tinkles."
Veterinary Nurse Lexi obtained her BS in Biology at the College of Charleston, SC and then moved back to her home state of Arizona. (She hated the wet heat!) Lexi has a small dog, "Kevin." As it works out, both Lexi and Kevin have to eat gluten free! Truly a perfectly matched pet and pet parent! Currently, Lexi is working on a Master's Degree.
Veterinary Nurse Barbara is originally from Ohio where she attended the Green County Veterinary Assistance Program. She has been a veterinary nurse for over 5 years and has a tremendous passion for animals. When not working, Barb enjoys her free time with her husband, daughter and five cats. (Yes, FIVE cats. She is destined to be the "cat lady" down the street.)
Receptionist Christine grew up in Bristol, CT and has lived in Arizona for over 20 years with her daughter, Ashley. Christine is a courageous, upbeat, breast and colon cancer survivor. She has a great love and passion for all types of animals which makes working at Scottsdale Animal Healthcare a perfect fit for her. She enjoys spending her free time riding her horse and also hanging out with her 4-legged family; 2 dogs, 2 cats, a tortoise, a lizard.
Veterinary Nurse Taylor (we call her "Tay") is a native Arizonan and lives in the Valley with her Terrior-Mix, "Rosie." Tay graduated ASU with a BA in Education. However, soon after graduation, Tay began volunteering at the Arizona Animal Rescue League, sending her on a whole new career path as a veterinary nurse.
Receptionist Katina was born and raised in Arizona (Yes, a real native Arizonan!) Growing up in Flagstaff, Katina developed a love for the outdoors. During the summer months she enjoys camping with family, her fiance' and their 3 goofy dogs (Hugo, Joey and Karen). Although filling-in as a much needed receptionist, Katina hopes to train to become a veterinary technician.
Veterinary Nurse Emily was born in Tucson (another Arizona native!) but moved to England when she was five years old. At the age of 15, she moved to Carson City, Nevada and attended the University of Nevada Reno in their pre-veterinary program. In 2019, Emily moved to Glendale with her pup, "Sylvie," and is continuing her career in the veterinary field. She is currently working toward her CVT (Certified Veterinary Technician).
Receptionist Sasha is also a native of Arizona; born and raised in Scottsdale. She graduated ASU with a degree in communications and, because she has always had a love for animals (especially dogs), Sasha found that Scottsdale Animal Healthcare is a perfect fit for her. Sasha has a two year old terrier-mix named "Princess," that she adopted as a puppy. Princess has grown to truly become Sasha's best friend. When Sasha isn't working, you can find her spending time with her family (including Princess) and friends.
Veterinary Nurse, Megan, was born in San Diego. In addition to enjoying working with dogs and cats (she has 3 dogs of her own), she truly has a passion for reptiles. Gaining experience by working in a veterinary hospital allows Megan to pursue her passion of helping "rescue" animals, both mammal and reptile.
